Leslie Jordan has tragically died after he crashed his car in Los Angeles after suffering a medical emergency on Monday. The actor was 67 years old.
The pint sized performer who measured just 4ft 11 inches tall, was best known for roles as Lonnie Gar in Hearts Afire (1993-1995), several characters in American Horror Story (2011-present) and Beverly Leslie in Will & Grace (2001-2006), which Jordan won the Prime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series in 2006.
Another one of Jordan's best known onstage performances was in Sordid Lives, where he played Earl "Brother Boy" Ingram.
Born in Tennessee in 1955, Jordan was raised in Chattanooga and moved to Los Angeles in 1982 where he began his acting career in 1986, appearing as Malone in the adventure series, The Fall Guy. Jordan quickly became recognised in Hollywood for his diminutive size and Southern drawl.
In recent years, the actor became a social media sensation during the Covid pandemic, posting gossip and humorous stories about Hollywood and relatable daily videos to his 5.8 million followers on Instagram.
Will and Grace co-stars have left heartfelt tributes for Jordan.
Sean Hayes tweeted: "My heart is broken. Leslie Jordan was one of the funniest people I ever had the pleasure of working with. Everyone who ever met him, loved him. There will never be anyone like him. A unique talent with an enormous, caring heart. You will be missed, my dear friend."
Megan Mullally, who played Karen Walker in Will & Grace and friend to Leslie has posted a tribute describing the actor as: "Hands down, one of the greats… My heart is breaking. I really can't believe it… Leslie was flawlessly funny, a virtuoso of comedy. His timing, his delivery, all apparently effortless. You can't get any better than that."
"The world is definitely a much darker place today without the love and light of Leslie Jordan. Not only was he a mega talent and joy to work with, but he provided an emotional sanctuary to the nation at one of its most difficult times," a representative for Jordan said in a statement.
