Dying to Know Day is an annual campaign on the 8th of August, empowering Australians to advocate for their own end-of-life planning.
The day encourages people at all stages of adult life to take individual action, hold events and learn about end-of-life choices. The campaign which aims to reduce future distress for loved ones, encourages people to have open conversations about death and proactive planning.
Join the conversation by sharing your own experiences or events via social media using hashtags: #DyingToKnowDay #GetDeadSetMyWay or #GetDeadSet.
In many societies, death is an uncomfortable topic, surrounded by fear and misunderstanding. However, by addressing it openly, we empower ourselves and our loved ones to better navigate life's final chapters. Having these conversations enables us to express our wishes, values and preferences concerning end-of-life care and funeral arrangements.
2023 marks the eleventh year of the campaign. Dying to Know Day is an initiative of The GroundSwell Project inspired by the book 'Dying To Know - Bringing Death to Life' created by Igniting Change.
