When someone passes away, it can be hard to find their death notice - the listing that contains important information about their passing and the details of their funeral. Further, you might be searching for your local death and funeral notices. There are several ways to find death and funeral notices in your area, but it is also important to be informed on why you might not be able to find them.
Death and funeral notices are an optional choice for families when planning the funeral of their loved one. While death notices can be a helpful way for families to let their community know about the passing of their loved one in a safe, respectful and simple way, not every family decides to publish a notice. This could be because they want to keep the details of the death or funeral private, or because they wish to announce the death in other ways. Another reason for this could be that not every funeral director presents a death notice as an option to families, and it is important to request that the funeral director arranging your loved one's funeral organises a death notice on your behalf if you wish them to. Otherwise, you are able to place death and funeral notices online and in your local newspaper at My Tributes.

If your local newspaper has ceased publication, you can still find death and funeral notices in your state newspaper. Online, through your state or local newspaper website, you can view death and funeral notices in your area for free by selecting the "Tributes" tab.
Go to mytributes.com.au, and in the search bar, type in the surname of the person who has passed away.
