It has been a year since we spoke, we shared a final meal, a cup of tea and you drew your last breath, but you remain undiminished in my thoughts. It was the most blessed of goodbyes and I take inspiration, as much as consolation, from your grace, humour and strength throughout your life. Particularly treasured memories are your trips to me in the UK in your 80's and our travels around Greece to revisit dear friends you made in the 1960's. Per your childhood song to me that warms my soul and makes me smile as it made you smile when sung back to you as you drifted to your final sleep, I didn't realise the words were prophetic.
Till we meet again, Dad. All my love, Jeanette xxx
'Moon river, wider than a mile
I'm crossing you in style someday
Oh, dream maker
You heartbreaker
Where ever you're going I'm going your way
Two drifters off to see the world
There's such a lot of world to see
We're after the same rainbow's end
Waiting round the bend
My huckleberry friend
Moon river and me'
