Dear Alan,

I am very sad to hear the news of your passing away. I only came to know today. I rang a number of times in the past several months but could not get in touch. It was nice to speak to you earlier this year and also meeting you and having dinner with you towards end of last year. I did not know if not I would have visited you. Thanks very much for your friendship. I will miss you a lot. My family will miss you a lot.

I really appreciate you visiting my country, my parents, my house, my daughters dedication service, my birthday, my enlistment and my citizenship dinner. I will miss your guidance, advice and your hospitality especially afternoon tea in your garden. I always remember flag hoisting and you helping my children to hoist flag in your house. I will visit your resting place.

I am just taking this opportunity to say good bye my friend. We will miss you a lot.
