Then I woke up and remembered that you’re in another place.
Reality came rushing back, the empty space inside - the pain, the loss, the heartache, the tears I cannot hide.
Another year has come and gone since we last saw your smile
And yet the loving bond we share keeps you near us all the while
The passing years do not dim the light of love that still burns bright
We that are left without you keep it close with all our might.
The milestones that you didn’t reach, things you didn’t get to say,
The would have, could have, what if’s that we ponder every day.
Your fate was chosen by the Gods; we wanted so much more and would give anything we have to hold you just once more.
Our love for you is eternal, it will never fade away.
