(Mum, Nana and Great Nana)
Died Tuesday 23rd July, 2019
Memories flood in as we mourn the death of an irreplaceable lady in our lives... Loving, kind, friendly, great fun, always dancing, always moving.
We will remember her care-fully selected birthday and Christmas cards, corned beef & pickle sandwiches, cold Shandies, puzzles, sewing knitting and crocheting, bright red lipstick, softest skin, Gerberas, adventurous spirit, cups of strong tea with just 1/4 teaspoon of milk. Old Time dancing at The Merrymakers. Travelling for Square Dancing interstate and overseas in the '70s. (How we envied those huge petticoats!) She valued education and constant learning, graduating from secretarial studies in her 50s, but then stepping up to care for Tommy, her husband, for 20 years after his stroke.
Grace has been an inspiration for our family of three generations of girls and her influence has been profound. She was the glue that held us together and continued to bond our family to Cairns long after we had left for the big smoke and wider pastures.
(Margaret) Grace Birch [née Meiklejohn] will live on in our hearts and minds forever.
