Brian Leslie Thiele (Dr.) passed away surrounded by his family on the 25th of June, 2023 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Loving Father, Brother, adoring Husband and saviour to countless individuals both here in Australia and abroad. Brian was a giant in the medical community.
Born in Bundaberg, Australia on 27th of November 1941, Brian attended and graduated the University of Queensland Medical School in 1966. He received his Royal College of Australian Surgeons Diploma in 1973. He was awarded his Surgical Fellow Department of Surgery in June of 1976.
His accolades continued as Brian became Professor and Chief of Vascular Surgery Penn State University, Hershey Pennsylvania and Vice Chairman Department of Surgery Penn State Medical Center, from 1986-1994. After years of distinguished service in the United States, Brian returned home to Bundaberg where he became the Director of Medical Services at the Bundaberg Base Hospital from 1994-1999.
His life and service to the medical community and the community in whole culminated in his Private Vascular Surgical practice from 1999-2007.
He was an extraordinary man with a great depth of integrity and grace who excelled at everything he set out to do and will be missed beyond measure.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Barbara, his sister Beverley, his brother Kim his children Lara, Peita, Nicholas and Kate and his grandchildren, Jakson, Marnie, Ella, Olivia, Ian, Blake, Ava, Claire, Innes and Cruz.
