Creese AM, Nigel Arthur Holloway

The Chairman of Council and Headmaster of Melbourne Grammar School, along with the Council and the School community, record with great sadness the passing of Nigel Creese AM, former long-standing Headmaster from 1970–1987. A man of vision and insight, his focus was on the importance of community, built on trust and loyalty. He exemplified the Christian challenges of unselfishness and self-sacrifice, dedicated service and hard work. Nigel Creese was an outstanding educator whose exemplary contribution was recognised across Australia in both the private and public sectors of education. He is remembered at MGS for his many fine qualities including integrity, diplomacy and continual search for excellence, and for the legacy he leaves on all facets of the School, including the establishment of the Melbourne Grammar School Foundation. He remained interested and involved in the School throughout his retirement, always being a role model for all as a true gentleman and gentle man. Our sincere condolences are extended to his wife, Val: his strongest support throughout his Headmastership; his children, Stephen, Elizabeth, Caroline and Oliver and their extended families.
