Meryl passed away peacefully on March 12th 2025, aged 92.
Adoring wife to Barry Axtens (dec.)
Loving, vibrant, kind, attentive mother of Michael, Gregory, Anthony, Rani, and Quentin.
Loving, proud and doting grandmother of Hsiao-Ni, Vivienne, Christopher, Benjamin, William, Stephanie, Rifeng, Qiulian, Beili and Jinli. Her great-grandchildren, Kai and Ilona, brought her joy in her later years.
Beloved only daughter of Bill (dec.) and Nathalie (dec). Caring and treasured sister to Greg (dec.), Brian and John(dec).
A major gift of Meryl’s was her ability to connect with others – finding pleasure in every conversation, experience, and life she touched. She opened her heart as a surrogate parent, mentor, music teacher, and confidante to countless lifelong friends and students who became her extended family.
Music was Meryl's language of love and woven through every aspect her life.
In honouring Meryl's wishes, there will be a private cremation.
Meryl’s extraordinary life will be celebrated through a selection of her favourite music at a concert. Details will be shared through personal invitation.
