Quincy Jones
Remembering Quincy Jones: the legendary music icon, producer, and philanthropist whose profound influence spanned over seven decades and inspired generations.
Haji Bashir Mohammed Deen was born in Mehro India on the first of October 1935.
As a young twelve year old boy he witnessed at first hand the horrors of humanity. Due to the 1947 war between Pakistan and India, he was subjected to witness much bloodshed, cruelty and fear and was left with his childhood being stolen from him.
Mr Deen’s Grandfather, Mr Fazal Deen who resided at Mt Joy Terrace, Wynnum, Queensland, Australia, was in India on holidays at the time and somehow managed to escape with most of his family members to Pakistan.
In 1948 Mr Fazal Deen arrived back to Australia landing at Archerfield airport with his first grandchild, twelve year old Bashir Deen. They were greeted by other family members including Mr Bashir Deen’s father and an entourage of Rolls Royce.
Growing up Mr Bashir Deen attended school at Wynnum High and then New Farm. After school years, Mr Bashir Deen helped out with the family businesses alongside his father, uncles and cousins. His cousins Sidiq and Ali Deen were not just his cousins but his brothers and best friends. They were known to be the “Three Musketeers”, together they worked hard as a team within the family business.
In 1962 Mr Bashir Deen’s Grandfather arranged his Grandson’s marriage to Jainul Nisha from Fiji. Mr Fazal Deen flew to Fiji with his Grandson and the Brides’ cousin to get his Grandson married.
Two weeks after the marriage, Mr Fazal Deen, Mr Bashir Deen and his new bride Jainul Nisha arrived back to Sydney, Australia. Because Mr Fazal Deen was a well known businessman having once owned a gold mine, guest houses, hotels and holiday flats all over Brisbane and the Gold Coast, all three of them were greeted by media and TV cameras and the next morning they were in the Sun Newspapers.
Mr Bashir Deen later became a transport operator and had several other businesses. He was employed by the Commonwealth Government Australia wide.
Due to illness Mr Bashir Deen had to retire and his son later took over the family business “Australia wide Removals”.
Mr Bashir Deen was the seventh generation from his family in Australia and lived in the Wynnum area for the last seventy-one years.
On the thirty first of May 2019, Mr Bashir Deen sadly passed away after suffering many years of lung related problems due to severe asthma and phenomena.
He is survived by his wife of fifty seven years, his son and daughter in law, his daughter and son in law, seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
Mr Bashir Deen was loved by and known to many. He was a man of great calibre, a honest, humble, kind hearted and generous man. He will surely be missed by all.
