The Honourable Dr Rosemary Crowley AO

The University of South Australia community mourns the loss of The Honourable Dr Rosemary Crowley AO, one of our most generous and dedicated supporters, who recently passed away.

Appointed as an Adjunct Research Fellow at the University’s Hawke Research Institute in 2003, Rosemary quickly became a prominent and active member of the UniSA community, and from the mid-2000’s onward became an ongoing donor to the University’s Bob Hawke Prime Ministerial Centre, the ethos of which closely aligns with that of her advocacy focus on public health and social equity.

As the first South Australian female Labor party senator to serve in federal parliament, Rosemary lived a life dedicated to democracy and community. Her pertinent invitation to ‘live, love, learn’, etched into the sculptural inverted pyramid in the foyer of UniSA’s Pridham Hall, will forever inform and inspire future generations, as will her expansive collection of papers, speeches, books and more which are held within the University’s library and will transfer to the new Adelaide University in 2026.

The University community remembers a strong, intelligent and dedicated woman with a life-long commitment to the public health and social betterment of Australia. We extend our deepest sympathy to Rosemary’s family and friends.
