William (Bill) Davis
LIFE MEMBER 2012
65 + years financial member
An esteemed and respected Unionist, activist and friend
Bill was a doyen of the Plumbing and Sprinkler Fitting Industry.
All members surely owe a debt of gratitude to him for his leadership, culminating in all of the conditions we continue to enjoy on site today.
Bill, as Assistant Federal Secretary was a driver in setting up the apprenticeship scheme in the fire protection industry and was a member of the standing committee on apprenticeships from its inception.
Bill’s early days were spent working at Wormald in Melbourne as a sprinkler fitter. He was a shop steward and a COM member while he rose through the ranks to be in charge of the special hazard section until he was elected as an Organiser.
Bill was involved in all major disputes in the fire protection industry in Australia.
When Bill left the Union he put his experience to use protecting all building workers in Victoria during his term at the Disputes Board.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Jo, Erin, Rohan, Warren, Russell, Graeme, Lael, and families.
RIP Bill.
Earle Setches, Andy Wallace, Paddy McCrudden, Organisers, COM and staff.
