Quincy Jones
Remembering Quincy Jones: the legendary music icon, producer, and philanthropist whose profound influence spanned over seven decades and inspired generations.
Ordained a Priest at St Patrick's Cathedral, East Melbourne on July 27, 1958. After serving temporarily at Healesville Parish (1958), Fr Dowling was appointed Assistant Priest at Burwood Parish (1959) followed by Altona Parish (1961). After completing studies in counselling and social work in 1963, Fr Dowling joined the Catholic Social Services Bureau as a counsellor and in 1973 began 'The Family Counsellor' on-air radio program - a program which this year celebrated its 50th anniversary. In 1985, Fr Dowling was recognised for his work in social services and was awarded the Order of Australia Medal. His final appointment was as Dean of St Patrick's Cathedral, East Melbourne, a role he held from 1999-2003. In retirement, Fr Dowling continued with his counselling work and writing. He will be remembered as a kind and gentle pastor and gifted counsellor, who served the Church tirelessly for 65 years
and gave comfort to many.
