Dr Barbara Cummings

Batchelor Institute Council and staff are deeply saddened by the loss of Dr Barbara Cummings and send their heartfelt condolences to her children Kerry and John, their children, family and friends. Dr Cummings was the first recipient of the award of Honorary Doctor of the Institute. Dr Cummings was a trailblazer and was always at the forefront, she led the way for the establishment of many organisations. Dr Cummings will forever be remembered as a tireless and fearless advocate for First Nations’ peoples and communities both locally and nationally. We acknowledge and thank you Dr Cummings for your contribution to First Nations peoples. May you rest in peace.
