WE SERVE
FINDLAY. — Graham
Flinders District Lions Club mourns the loss of our much loved and respected member Graham Findlay, aged 80 years. He was a Charter member of the Club and celebrated 50 years of community service last year. He was the husband of fellow Lion and past President, Gabby Crehan.
Graham was a farmer and a gentleman and, although quiet and unassuming, was an intrepid skier and an experienced sailor with a love of travelling, often with caravan or by boat. He read widely and, with encouragement, was an entertaining and amusing teller of stories. The depth and breadth of his knowledge of the history of Flinders and its surrounding countryside, and of our Club, was impressive.
As a wise, strong, and able farmer in a country Lions Club, his experience was invaluable in enabling our Club to respond to local and rural needs in particular. Always one of the first to volunteer, this year he and Gabby spent a week with the Corryong Lions Club and Blaze Aid helping to rebuild fences for those ravaged by the horrific fires. We will remember his generosity of spirit in all aspects of his contribution to community service on the Mornington Peninsula.
Graham was a proud and loving father and grandfather. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Gabby and Graham’s three daughters and their families who, in these unprecedented times, have so far been unable to celebrate his life together.
