Quincy Jones
Remembering Quincy Jones: the legendary music icon, producer, and philanthropist whose profound influence spanned over seven decades and inspired generations.
Carol Ellen Gourlay, age of 76, passed away peacefully on Tuesday the 2nd of January 2024 at Pindara Private Hospital, Gold Coast QLD. Widow of Geoffrey Allen Gourlay (7 July 1922 to 24 May 2008, age 86), she was born on the 13th of September 1947 in Brisbane, to Mervyn James Forrest and Margret Beryl (formerly Maynard).
Carol lived a life that could be described as “…service to others”. Always seeing the bright-side, “…tomorrow is another day…” was an often welcomed comforting whisper in your ear. Always generous with her time and always there for her family and our friends. She treated everyone with absolute grace and kindness. Carol played an integral role in her grandchildren’s life, and shared a very special bond with each of them.
Carol was a passionate and active member of the Surfers Paradise Golf Club for many years. She cherished her weekly games, and the close knit of friends she made through golfing over the years.
Carol is survived by her sister Lynette Margaret Ferguson, daughter Jill Gourlay, son Ben Gourlay, daughter in-law Vanessa and her grandchildren Frederick Geoffrey (Freddy), Willow Rose, Robert (Bobby) Ben, Max Ziukelis, Katelyn Veivers and Jett Veivers.
To honor Carol’s wishes, we will hold a gathering of family and friends to celebrate Carol’s life in the not too distant future.
We are comforted knowing that Carol is now at rest with Geoff, watching over us all in peace.
