Simon Townsend: Pioneer of Australian Children's Television
A tribute to Simon Townsend, creator of Wonder World, celebrating his contributions to Australian children’s television and his lasting legacy.
Died peacefully in her sleep of old age in Brisbane. She had lived there since 2012 to be with son Peter Gross, d-in-law Robyn and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also missed by daughter Kathy McLean, sons-in-law Carl Murphy and Michael McLean, grand-cat Kardy, and sister Heather Morrison. Long-time member of Bentleigh Uniting Church and Probus Club. 4th and 2nd-last daughter of Ron and Laura Morrison of Brighton and East Bentleigh. She remembered the bomb shelter in the family back garden in Brighton, running at Glen Huntly running club against Olympian Fanny Blankers-Koen, riding her bike to Bendigo, and much else. A long and sometimes hard life, especially as a poor single parent before no-fault divorce and the Whitlam government's Supporting Mother's Pension; but she was always optimistic and loved her family and garden - flowers above all. Finally at rest. Privately cremated in Brisbane.
