Explore the life and legacy of John Marsden, a beloved Australian author and educator whose works, like the Tomorrow series, inspire and empower young readers
Retired broadcaster John Harlow-Charlton, known professionally as John Charlton, died peacefully on 10 December 2024 in the Mater Hospital, Redlands QLD. Loving husband to Margaret Joyce for over 60 years, who passed away 6 years earlier. He is survived by his three children Richard, Philip and Susan together with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His 61 year career in Radio and Television took him (and his family) around the world and around Australia. He worked with the BBC in London, TVW7 in Perth, hosted morning television in Adelaide and afternoon television in Sydney, compered "This Day" on NZ TV and presented a raft of radio programs, the last being for 4MBS-FM in Brisbane. In his later years he took much joy in teaching drama and communications at several schools on the Gold Coast.
Thanks for everything Dad - you can rest in peace now; the microphone is off.
