John Hartree

The President and members of the Rotary Club of Darwin are deeply saddened by the passing of esteemed member John Hartree and extend their condolences to David, Veronica and Emily and Anne and Baz and friends at this sad time.
John was a Past President of the Rotary Club of Darwin and a valued member for his contribution to Rotary and the wider community.
He was affectionately known as “the penguin” by his Rotary mates.
His 35 year presence at the chocolate wheel at the Royal Darwin Show will be missed.
He was awarded Rotary’s highest honour of a Paul Harris Fellow.
We are so sorry to see a member in his 36th Rotary year leave us and the community, which is a much better place for John’s contribution in exercising the motto “Service Above Self”.
Rest in peace John.
