The Board of the AustralAsia Railway Corporation offers their deepest condolences to the family of Mr Tim Fischer AM.
As the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr Fischer’s enthusiasm and passion for nation building infrastructure saw him play an instrumental role in the delivery of the Alice Springs to Darwin railway project.
Board Members fondly recall the time he spent on the First Train to Darwin, celebrating the completion of construction and a new chapter in the development of the North.
Mr Fisher continued his involvement with rail in the Northern Territory as a director of FreightLink.
The railway project is just one of many incredible achievements in the career of an Australian icon. Mr Fischer’s contribution will be remembered with a proud and extensive legacy.
