07-May-1936 - 06-Oct-2020

Frank Illich, the owner of Ashmore Palms Holiday Village, Brisbane Holiday Village & Earls Court Motel & Serviced Apartments, sadly passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday 06/10/2020. Frank leaves behind his wife, Maria (Ria), his 6 children, Mark, Megan, Ken, Tanya, Geoff and Brad and 16 grandchildren.

Frank was known as a passionate and hard worker who overcame many challenges and was a lover of beautiful things, evidenced by his love and passion for antique cars, gardening and later, the parrot collection at Ashmore Palms. He got his start in life as a country boy from North Queensland, determined to make it in the big city. After moving to Sydney, he started his career as a car salesman at Blue Point Motors, eventually buying the company, becoming the No.1 Chrysler Dealer in Australia in 1970 and changing the car industry.

In 1973, Frank purchased his first caravan park, Kywong Caravan Park. In 1985, he purchased and sold Hollywell Caravan Park and ultimately ended up purchasing Ashmore Caravan Park in 1986 and Dress Circle Caravan Park in 1987. Over time, Ashmore Caravan Park became Ashmore Palms Holiday Village and Dress Circle Caravan Park became Brisbane Holiday Village. The 2 parks have become forerunners in the industry, winning many awards including Queensland and Australian Tourism Awards. In December 2014, Earls Court Motel & Serviced Apartments was added to the property portfolio.

The staff at Ashmore Palms Holiday Village, Brisbane Holiday Village and Earls Court Motel & Serviced Apartments are proud to continue the work and vision of Frank under the leadership of Frank’s wife, Ria, and his children.
