It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of LEE Yuen Sam - loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He peacefully passed away at the age of 94 at Castle Hill Aged Care Home surrounded by loved ones in person and by video.

He leaves to mourn Sons: Chris (Sue), Poon Kwan (Catherine), and James (Sing Wai); Daughters: Christine (Lam), Sandy (Gary), Jan and Irene (Bill); Grandchildren: Brendan (Felia), Cynthia (Enoch), Yoke Quin, Yoke Lynn, Elaine (Paul), Nicole (Paley), Edmund, Adrian (Kiet), Patrick (Christy), Malcolm (Linda), Marlon (Michelle), Michael and Kelsey; Great-grandchildren: Lachlan, Cameron, Alannah, Timothy, Jonathan, Caleb, Eva, Amelia, Aria, Vivienne, Madeline, Adelaide, Harrison, Alexis, Isaac, Maxwell and Marcus; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. LEE Yuen Sam was predeceased by his wife CHEOW Yuet Wai, parents LEE Hung Lung and WONG Oi Lin, and sister LEE Sai Foong.

LEE Yuen Sam emigrated from Guangdong, China to Malaysia with his mother at 10 years old. He and CHEOW Yuet Wai raised 7 children in a humble but loving household. With unbelievable hard work, selflessness and devotion, they amazingly provided their children the opportunity for postsecondary education abroad in Australia and the U.K. After the passing of his wife in 1989, he emigrated to Sydney, Australia in 2000.

He was selfless, kind, considerate and generous. He lived with honesty, honour and integrity. Eager to learn, curious, and determined, he self-taught to read and write Chinese and was adaptable to life’s challenges. His children are blessed from him sharing his experiences, stories, advice and wisdom. He navigated through his senior years with a sharp mind and desire to share the lessons of his life. This was a life that was full and accomplished, starting as a young boy working all day to earn a simple meal, to the culmination of his life’s work as a great-grandfather with a large family that loved him.

He will be missed by his family and all those whose life he has touched.

Special thanks to the doctors and staff at Westmead Hospital and Castle Hill Home for exceptional care even during COVID.

LEE Yuen Sam’s wishes were for cremation. A Zoom memorial service will be held Sat July 31st at 11am Sydney time. To attend, please contact Sue at siewhuang_lee@yahoo.com.

In lieu of flowers, donations made to your charity of choice would be greatly appreciated.
