MAGUIRE.— Helena Sr RSJ
Much loved Sister of Saint Joseph who passed away at Mary MacKillop Aged Care, St Vincent’s Care Services, Hawthorn East on 23rd March 2019 in her 105th year, and her 84th year as a Sister of St Joseph.
Born in Numurkah, daughter of Michael Maguire and Esther Power, Helena was one of seven children. She trained and worked as a mothercraft nurse from 1932 at Broadmeadows before entering the Josephites. Helena taught in schools and ministered in various parishes throughout Victoria, including Leongatha. A skilled artist, she enjoyed painting, spinning and knitting. Helena is remembered for her cheerfulness and positive attitude to life.
