Formerly from Townsville Joan passed away at Arcare Nursing Home in North Lakes, Brisbane. Joan was born in Murwillumbah, NSW and grew up in Gympie, Qld as a Farmers Daughter. Her Parents were Heinrich Gustav Wolski and Margaret Florence Richardson. She started her working life with the QLD Railway which took her to Townsville where she met her Husband Harry (Bluey) Mitchell a local Police Constable and they were married in Brisbane 9th February 1952.
They made their home in Idalia (Estate) which is now known as Fairfield Waters where Joan was a Mother of three children and had many talents, as a Prize-Winning Baker at the local show each year, a Dressmaker and Cake Icing. She was very proud of being involved with making costumes for the Townsville Coral Society.
Joan was Foundation President of Port of Townsville Ladies Probus Club in 1987. Joan is survived by her three children Lindsay & Marje Mitchell, Jennifer & Steve Hodgson and Gwen & Geoff Gibson. Granddaughter Jillian Hodgson.
Joan requested a private cremation.
The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during the time in care with Dementia.
