The Language of Us
Doris Falidis-Nickolas’ poetry beautifully captures love, loss, and remembrance, offering comfort to those navigating grief.
My darling Dad,
I’ve tried so hard to find the right words to express what I feel right now but how do I explain what I can’t comprehend. My heart is empty but so full of love and beautiful, happy memories of the life you gave us. I am numb but I ache to hold your hand and tell you I love you, that you made me who I am.
You influenced me more than I think either of us ever realised. My creativity, fixer up ways, love of making things and so much more comes from you. My mind is a million mixed up thoughts but one thing is clear.
I need to thank you Dad. For all you have given me, your unwavering love, guidance, encouragement, helping hand, friendship, laughter, tears and even the grumpy Dad.
It’s all you. It’s perfect. I’m proud to be your Daughter.
I love you. I love you beyond words.
Your loving daughter Michelle
