NESPOLON, Harry

RACGP President, Dr Harry Nespolon has passed away aged 57 following a battle with pancreatic cancer.

The RACGP SA&NT Council and staff, on behalf of all members, have extended their deepest condolences to his partner Lindy Van Camp, children Hannah and Ella, and friends and colleagues.

Harry was elected RACGP President in July 2018 and worked tirelessly to advocate on behalf of Australian GPs and the general practice profession to ensure Australia’s primary health clinicians can offer patients the best possible care. He vowed to affect genuine change as President, and he certainly delivered, displaying extraordinary leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic despite his deteriorating health. He was fundamental in expanding telehealth for all patients and bringing about the most far-reaching change for general practice in a generation. His sole focus as President was on what was best for general practice, members and all Australians.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from Flinders University in South Australia in 1985, he went on to obtain his Diploma of Obstetrics from the Royal Australian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

He worked at a number of practices within South Australia, including Chandlers Hill Surgery, Hallett Cove Corner Surgery and Workhealth on Eastern Parade. He established his first practice in 2003 in Sydney.

Vale Dr Harry Nespolon.
