It is with deep sadness that the North and Heruc families wish to announce that
Professor Ian Eric North AM
died peacefully at home after a long illness.
15 April 1945 Lower Hutt, New Zealand
14 May 2024 Adelaide, Australia
He will be fondly remembered as an
Artist, Writer, Academic and Emeritus Curator
of the Art Gallery of South Australia.
He will live on within us
through his art and writing, his national cultural contributions and the enduring love he
shared with us all - family and friends.
He will be sorely missed by his wife, Mirna Heruc,
Son Patrick North and daughter-in-law
Cathrynne Lester,
grandchildren Bridget and Jasper North
Brother Graeme North and sister-in-law
Deniece Gannaway,
his nieces Heidi North, Tessa North and their families
Cousin Alison Brindle and family,
cousins-in-law Alex and Dianne Heruc and families
