The Language of Us
Doris Falidis-Nickolas’ poetry beautifully captures love, loss, and remembrance, offering comfort to those navigating grief.
Caro al nostro Papa,
Siamo dispiacuti della tua scomparsa,
ti vogliamo bene Salute la Mamma e la nostra
Sorella Marina Finche saremo riuniti di nuovo.
Tuo caro figlie, Luigi e Renato
To Dad,
from the time I could remember, I have looked up to you
throughout my entire life.
A leader, strong and resilient.
Your strength and determination has inspired me to be the man I am today.
Those words, "never say you can't do it" will live on.
I am going to miss watching documentaries together, your funny jokes and stories, and your famous "yes" as a hello.
Over the last five years,
I have learned so much about our family heritage and your life,
which I will treasure forever.
I am so proud to have you as my father.
Never forgotten, and you will be forever in my heart.
Luigi.
'Deep are the memories, precious they stay; NO passing of time, can take them away'
Dear Dad,
We are heartbroken you have left us,
God has a spot for you in his garden for a beautiful gentle generous soul, a heart of gold, a voice I will always hear, so you were taken from us.
Thank you for all of your love and support and all of the opportunities you gave us. We will never forget all the hard work and sacrifices you made for us.
I try to hide my heartache as you would want me to but if I could have one wish. A dream that could not come true.
I would pray to God with all my heart, for my yesterdays with you.
You adored my beautiful treasures, Christian and Oliver.
We have made beautiful memories, and I will forever share the values you taught me; the list is forever long, and I am so grateful and privileged to have the best Dad in the world.
We take comfort in knowing that you are reunited with our Mother and Sister, give them endless hugs from all of us.
The tears in my eyes I can wipe away, but the ache in my heart will always stay.
You are my hero, forever in my heart.
Love you, miss you Dad, your loving son
Renato.
