PANTON, Reverend Desmond Anthony

Ordained a priest at St Patrick's Cathedral, East Melbourne on 21 July 1962. After serving temporarily at East Reservoir Parish (1962), Fr Panton was appointed Assistant Priest at the following parishes: Geelong East (1963); Kilmore (1966); St Kilda East (1968); Oakleigh (1969); St Albans (1974) and Manifold (1979). Fr Panton was then appointed at Drysdale Parish (1980), serving as Parish Priest for 32 years until his retirement in 2012 whereupon he was appointed Pastor Emeritus. He passed away at Rice Village Aged Care Facility, Marshall on 26 July 2023. He was aged 86 years. Fr Panton will be remembered as a kind, gentle and dedicated pastor. May he rest in peace.
