POWER, George
My dearest dad,
You have been one of the finest people I have had the privilege to know. That I was lucky enough to call you my father has been an honour.
I am devastated that you have passed. I will now quietly close the chapter of my life book that you filled throughout my nearly sixty years. You supported me, encouraged me and directed me. On that I could rely.
Trust does not come easily to me but I trusted in you as you did in me. On that we could rely.
I am saddened that the last few months were not as you hoped. I have always tried to carry out your wishes. On that you could rely.
We shared our love of music, Pavarotti, Mahalia to name a few, devoured cream cakes with mum and dissected the world's events through great conversation between us three. On that we could rely.
You were a man of integrity and dignity, you lived simply and quietly. The end occurred with no fanfare, a simple breath observed and then you were gone. You will however never be forgotten and you will be thought of with much love, always. On that you can rely.
Your devoted daughter, Dianne
Melbourne
