In loving memory of Del Margaret Riner / Del Mitchell nee Del Routley.
Del passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday 28th March after a long illness. Her dedication and commitment to caring for others led to a career in Nursing, then Motherhood and concludes with her final wish for her body to be used for Medical Research to ultimately benefit others.
A long-time resident of The Gap, Brisbane, and in later years Tewantin on the Sunshine Coast; Del’s infectious humour and forceful personality made her many friends and delighted everyone who met her.
Del was fiercely independent and protective of her three children, Andy, Peter and Julie. When tragedy struck and their father Noel died suddenly in 1969 Del returned to her nursing career to provide for her children.
Some years later she found new love with Willard Llewellyn Riner and we welcomed Helen, Bill, Jeff and Mary to the family.
Del is survived by Peter and Julie Mitchell, Step children Helen and Bill Riner and Mary Klease. Peter and Joanne Mitchell’s children Paul and Zoe Mitchell and Alex Drake and Andy Mitchell and Therese Murphy’s daughters Bonnie-Clair and Prudence Mitchell. Alex and Angharad Drake’s daughters Olive & Pearl. Paul Mitchell and Sara Tallon’s children Edie, Emmett and Flora.
It was Del’s request that no funeral service be held, instead a memorial service will take place in the coming months, so please email the family for more information to DelRinermemorial@mail.com
