ROBINS, Geoffrey William

04/05/1933 - 16/08/2024

Publication: The Advertiser
Date Listed: 31/8/2024
Location: North Haven

Geoff passed away at home on 16 August 2024, aged 91 years.

Geoff was born in Mildura in 1933, the fourth child of Will & Gwen Robins (later of Shepparton). He lived most of his life in Adelaide and North Haven in particular. He had two older sisters, Olive Moore (Melbourne) and Mary Grant (Mildura/Bendigo), and an older brother Ewart Robins (Melbourne). He is once again reunited with his family.

He was the beloved uncle of Lyle & Lucy Robins, Grant & Judith Robins, Lyndal Robins and Deborah & Brian Heath. A great-uncle to Alex Robins, Meg & Matt Heath, and great-great-uncle to Theo & Thomas Heath.

Geoff loved to launch his boat and go fishing & crabbing. He would pickle the catch and enjoy it on bread and butter. He regularly played 18 holes of golf and was a member of Flagstaff Hill and Westward Ho GCs. He won many trophies in club events and at last count had 5 Hole-in-One's to his name. Over the years he played in many Senior golf carnivals, one of his favourite being the Yarrawonga event, where he would head with caravan in tow. He only gave away the golf in his mid-80s when he couldn't comfortably walk the 18 holes - no buggy for him!

He always enjoyed being outside, working in his garden and tending to his 50-year-old grapevine, native plants, tomato and asparagus crops. A tall stand of blooming wattle trees is evidence of his green thumb.

Geoff would complete the cryptic crossword daily, catch a game of footy on tv and enjoy watching various crime-drama series like Morse, Lewis and Vera. He loved listening to classical music and was a big fan of Andre Rieu. He dropped in on a weekly basis to the local pub and RSL for a light beer and to read his newspaper.

Geoff had regular visits from interstate family and enjoyed finding new restaurants and attractions for them to see. A day trip to Clare, Barossa or McLaren was always on the cards and dinner or lunch at Carmine & Co, Port Adelaide, was a must! The scalopinni saltimbocca was his favourite dish - he ordered it every time.

Farewell and rest easy dear Uncle Geoff. We will miss your quiet, gentle nature and cheeky sense of humour.

Time to go crabbing, work on that golf swing & enjoy a few at the 19th!
