Emeritus Professor Peter Lindsay Rogers, BE MBA DPhil DSc FIEAust, late of Northwood, NSW, aged 84.
Loving and beloved husband of Meg Debus-Rogers; father of Vanessa Rogers; grandfather of Olive, Annabelle, and Eloise Dettmann (who call him Papa); father-in-law of Samuel Dettmann; brother of Margaret Irrgang; son of Malcolm and Rose Rogers (both deceased).
Born in Adelaide, educated at Mitcham Primary School, Prince Alfred College, the University of Adelaide, Oxford University, and the University of New South Wales, Peter was a 1963 Rhodes Scholar, Professor in Biotechnology at UNSW, consultant to the United Nations and international aid agencies, and an expert in applying biotechnology to renewable energy and sustainable development.
Peter will be long remembered and greatly missed - a devoted and cherished husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and cousin; a gentle man of wisdom and peace; a gifted scholar and teacher; a talented sportsman; a loyal friend.
A memorial celebration of Peter’s life will be held on 26 November and by live stream (details via Lady Anne Funerals, 1300 740 074).
