Simon Townsend: Pioneer of Australian Children's Television
A tribute to Simon Townsend, creator of Wonder World, celebrating his contributions to Australian children’s television and his lasting legacy.
I was born Jindra Zidlicka in 1941 under German occupied Czechoslovakia. During my life I was a puppeteer under Josef Krofta and after a whirlwind romance married Ladislav Rosendorf. I mothered Barbora in 1976 and Pavel in 1979. We became refugees from Communist Czechoslovakia in 1983 after a movie worthy story to Tasmania, where I have since lived in Cygnet for the last 20 years. During my life I have helped bring Terrapin Puppet Theatre to life and later had a one woman show which toured schools all over. Please think happily of me and smile.
I died on the 11th of October and had a lovely family wake which I remember to the next life.
