Quincy Jones
Remembering Quincy Jones: the legendary music icon, producer, and philanthropist whose profound influence spanned over seven decades and inspired generations.
RUSSO, Vincenzo
Dearest Vince,
There is so much I wish I could tell you.
I wish I could tell you just how much I'll miss
our phone and video calls –
they were the highlight of my week.
I loved the way you would share the music you
were listening to, and how surprised you
got if I didn't know the song.
Black Sabbath's concert is easily one of my
favourite memories. Our ears were ringing
for days afterwards.
You gave me your old record collection after that,
something I will always cherish.
I wish you knew just how much I'll miss
rolling up to your house,
you on the front porch reading the paper.
How funny it was when you offered my new boyfriend
a shot of whisky five minutes after introductions.
Or how I'll never forget when you tried
sushi (and wasabi) for the first time.
We laughed so hard that night.
Most of all, you are loved and missed
by all who were lucky enough to know you.
I will love and miss you always.
Your "little sister" Jessica, and Carmine xoxo
