It’s with sadness we announce that on the 5th October 2020 Emil passed away peacefully. He was 94, and married to Najla for 59 years. Together they had four children. There are six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Emil migrated from Lebanon to Melbourne Australia in the 1950s where he met Najla and they made a life here for their lucky children. He made sure that the Antiochian Orthodox church, and it’s community, was central to the family’s weekly life growing up.
Emil loved talking and reading about history (he was a Middle East specialist) and religion, going to church and playing solitaire and backgammon. He adapted throughout the course of his working life, being a tailor, shopkeeper, taxi driver and builder.
Emil had been strong and healthy until quite recently, still walking the local block, gardening and eating well each day.
Born 26.06.1926 in Kfarakka Lebanon. Died 05.10.2020 Carnegie, Australia. Beloved husband of Najla. Loving father of Alexandre, Genevieve, Dawn and Vanessa. Father-in-law to Charlie, Paul and Samantha. Grandfather of Tuesday, Alexandra, Yasmin, Thierry, Eden and Alice. Great-grandfather of Ryder.
