THOMPSON, John Harland
01 Mar 1930

It is with deep sadness that the family of John Thompson announce his passing on April 1, 2023 at the age of 93.
Surrounded by family and holding the hand of his beloved wife, he left this world as he had lived in it, quietly, humbly and unassumingly.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of almost 70 years, Ann; his children: Ian, Shirley, Louise, Kerry, Mark and Jade and their spouses and partners; his sister-in-law: Jean; his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as numerous relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his brother, Noel and his mother, Molly.
Many in the plumbing and building industries knew him as “Jack” but in his private life, he was known almost universally as “Pa”, a devoted family man who enjoyed the simple things in life.
He could usually be found outdoors mowing the grass, climbing trees, building bonfires and feeding his much-loved magpies.
Pa will be greatly missed but the lessons he taught us and the memories we cherish will live on forever.
Although it’s difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, may looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow.
The family would like to thank the staff at Robina Hospital, particularly the Palliative Care Team, who treated him with great care and respect during his final days.
A Celebration of Life will be held in July to honour a man well loved and a life well lived.
Dearest Pa, fly high. We know you’ll be the brightest star in the night sky.
