Archbishop Mark Coleridge invites the Clergy, Religious and People of the Archdiocese of Brisbane, the Dioceses of Rockhampton, Townsville, Toowoomba and Cairns, and all Relatives and Friends to participate in the Solemn Funeral Mass for Archbishop John Bathersby DD, AO to be celebrated at the Cathedral of St Stephen, Elizabeth Street, Brisbane on Monday 16 March, 2020 at 11.00am. Following Mass, his body will be interred with his predecessors in the Cathedral Crypt.
Vigil Prayers will be held at the Cathedral on Sunday evening, 15 March, 2020 at 5.00pm commencing with the Rite of Reception of the Archbishop’s body into the Cathedral.
His body is now in St Stephen’s Chapel (next to the Cathedral) where it can be surrounded by the prayer and affection of the people of Brisbane in the days leading to the Funeral Liturgies. All are invited to come to the Chapel in this period of mourning.
