CLAUDIE, David John

Late of Chuulangun, Kuuku I’yu Ngaachi, Cape York.

Passed away surrounded by family and friends at Cairns Hospital on 24th October 2023, aged 56.

Much loved and respected Father, Husband, Ya’pu, Ya’athu, Brother, Poppy, Muka, Miimi, Piinya, Cousin, Community Elder and Leader, Friend, Colleague and Mentor.

CEO of Chuulangun Aboriginal Corporation, David was a pioneer whose life’s work was integrating the worlds of Indigenous and western governance, science and land management, all under the aim of homelands-based sustainable development, working and living on country.

He was passionate, knowledgeable and collaborated with people from all over Australia and the world while also raising a new generation on country. David will make a long-lasting imprint on everyone he has touched with his vision of a better place for all.

All Family and Friends are respectfully invited to attend his Funeral Service which will be held at Chuulangun, Kuuku I’yu Ngaachi, on Sunday 12th November 2023, commencing at 3pm.
