REVEREND FATHER WILLIAM GEORGE GRUNDY
Born 30 August 1933 in Stanthorpe, Pius XII Seminary, Banyo. Ordained to priesthood in Rome on 23rd November 1958 by Cardinal Gregory Peter Agagianian. Joined Diocese of Cairns in 1954. Appointments; 1959-1964 assistant priest at St Monica's Cathedral, Atherton and North Cairns parishes. 1965- 1967 Parish Priest of Malanda. 1967-1980 Parish Priest of Babinda. 1981-1989 Parish Priest of Edmonton. 1991-1993 Parish Priest of Parramatta Park. 1993 - 2014 Parish Priest of Babinda. 2014 retired in Babinda. Most dearly loved son of Molly and George Grundy (both dec), loved brother of Marie and Tom (both dec), Dan, Rosemary, Bob, Patsy, loved uncle of his nieces and nephews. Priest of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Cairns. Fr Grundy entered into Eternal Life, at the Babinda Hospital on Thursday 12th December 2019. Aged 86 years. His body will be received at St Rita of Cascia Church, 15 Church Street, Babinda at a Vigil with Evening Prayer, Memories and a Liturgical Reception of his body commencing at 7.00 p.m. SUNDAY 22nd December 2019. The Most Reverend Bishop Foley, Bishop of Cairns, Priests and Religious of the Diocese of Cairns, all family, relatives, parishioners and many friends of FATHER WILLIAM (BILL) GEORGE GRUNDY are respectfully invited to attend a Solemn Funeral Mass to be celebrated at St Rita's School Multi-Purpose Court (next to Presbytery), 7/9-13 Church Street, Babinda commencing at 10.00 a.m. MONDAY 23rd December 2019. Followed by interment in the New Babinda Lawn Headstone Cemetery, Nelson Road, Babinda.
