Quincy Jones
Remembering Quincy Jones: the legendary music icon, producer, and philanthropist whose profound influence spanned over seven decades and inspired generations.
Loving husband of Edna (deceased). Loving and devoted father of Peter, Paul and Vincent. Much loved Pop Pop to Damien, Toby, Emily and Winter. A loyal and supportive mate to so many over the years.
Ernie was one of 6 children born in the inner western suburbs of Sydney to loving parents Alan and Dorothy (both deceased). Ernie is survived by older brother Bill (98) and sister Joan (100). Ernie served in the Navy between 1943 and 1947 during WW2 on the HMAS Quadrant. He held several government administrative roles in his early career before entering the pharmaceutical industry where he thrived in sales, marketing and management roles which included over 30 years at then Wyeth based in Parramatta but working across Australia and New Zealand. It was during this time as sales rep, he met his beloved wife Edna, at Grafton Base Hospital on one of his regular calls.
Ernie lived a so very full life, surrounding himself with family and a network of friends that have lasted from childhood. A devout Catholic, he lived a rewarding Christian life and volunteered his time to help others in many ways, including with the St Vincent de Paul Society.
He loved his footy (NRL) and cricket and was a regular attendee over the years with family and close mates at the SCG and Football Stadium.
An avid runner later in life, he always managed to beat his son’s at the City to Surf!
May he rest in peace, reunited with his beloved Edna and too many friends and family that have passed before him.
