FRANCIS JEREMIAH CRANE
Reverend Father Francis Jeremiah Crane, born 30th June 1926, Brisbane, Qld. Pius XII Seminary Banyo. Ordained to Priesthood 29th June 1955 at the Cathedral of St Stephen, Brisbane. Fr Crane served at St Clare’s (Tully 1956-1957), St Patrick’s (Herberton 1957-1958), St John’s (Silkwood 1959-1964), St Rita’s (Millaa Millaa 1965-1967), St James (Malanda 1967-1968), St John’s (Silkwood 1968-1974), St Augustine’s (Mossman 1974-1984), St Monica’s Cathedral (Cairns 1984-1987), St Rita’s (Babinda 1987-1993), St Monica’s Cathedral (Cairns 1993-1994), St Patrick’s (Herberton 1994-1997), Chaplain to Mt St Bernard’s College, Herberton and Apostolate to the Three Saint’s Committee, Silkwood. Retired April 1997 and subsequently resided at Coral Sea Gardens and Mercy Place Westcourt until his passing on Thursday 18th April 2019.
Priest of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Cairns. Fr Crane entered into Eternal Life, at Mercy Place Westcourt, Cairns, on Holy Thursday evening 18th April 2019, aged 92 years.
His body will be received at Mercy Place Westcourt Chapel, 257 Gatton Street, Westcourt, at a Vigil Service and Memories and a Liturgical Reception of his body THIS MONDAY EVENING 29th April 2019, commencing at 7.00pm.
The Most Reverend Bishop James Foley, Bishop of Cairns, Priests and Religious of the Diocese of Cairns, all family, relatives, parishioners and many friends of FATHER FRANCIS CRANE are respectfully invited to attend a Solemn Funeral Mass to be celebrated at St Monica’s Cathedral, 183 Abbott Street, Cairns City, THIS TUESDAY MORNING 30th April 2019, Commencing at 9.00am. Following the Mass, the interment will take place in the Catholic Priest’s Section of the Cairns Martyn Street Cemetery.
