The Language of Us
Doris Falidis-Nickolas’ poetry beautifully captures love, loss, and remembrance, offering comfort to those navigating grief.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce mum’s passing. Jan was a cherished mother, sister, grandmother of nine, and aunty who touched the lives of so many across her 80 years with her warmth, kindness, and infectious spirit. She departed this world as she lived in it – with dignity, and with a fierce bravery that was also proudly demure.
In accordance with Jan’s wishes, we will gather to celebrate her life rather than mourn her departure. In honour of her request, we have lovingly named this occasion "Jan's Shout" – an event filled with lightheartedness and joy, just as she desired.
Jan's Shout will be held at Sandringham Bowls Club, a place close to mums heart, on Wednesday, 27th September, at 4:00 PM. We invite all those whose lives were touched by Jan to join us in commemorating her life and sharing fond memories, a few drinks and some catering will be provided. Jan's life was vibrant and colourful, so we encourage you to wear your favourite colour to this celebration.
Your presence would mean the world to us, as we come together to honour Jan's legacy and the indelible mark she left on each of us. Together, let us raise our glasses and toast to a life well-lived, to the laughter she shared, and the love she gave so freely.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be considered to FightMND, an organisation that held special meaning in Jan’s brave battle with Motor Neurone Disease.

With deepest gratitude for the love, support, and messages of condolence during this time.
